Class Information

Yoga Styles
Yoga derived from India more than 5,000 years ago and there are many styles; the two styles taught at Breathing Place are Hatha Yoga and Forrest Yoga.

Hatha Yoga is the most popular branch of Yoga especially in Ireland, the yoga poses are very accessible and it incorporates gentle breathing and meditation. A Hatha class is slow-paced and provides good introduction to the basic yoga poses. All prenatal, yoga for children and beginner classes at the studio are Hatha based.

Forrest Yoga is a method developed over 30 years by yoga teacher Ana Forrest specifically to address current day stresses and challenges both physical and emotional. Forrest Yoga emphasises healing through powerful yoga sequences and breathing techniques taught in a hot room. As a beginner to Forrest Yoga, you learn to breathe deeply and connect in to your body. As you progress, you get proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you; particularly with physical and emotional injuries. Learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tools to deal with fear and struggle. Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires that you bring a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. As you advance in Forrest Yoga, step by step, you learn to intelligently ride your breath into the exhilarating advanced poses. In addition, you learn to exercise your emotional body through the full spectrum of feeling.
